The Beatitudes
I have two images this week that go together. I owe my wife the credit for coming up with this visual. The Beatitudes are basic guidelines on how to be happy in our earthly lives. I think Jesus is telling us that in our hard times we will be blessed because we are more open to receive His blessing. Then he warns us that we sometimes become too self-reliant during the good times. If we are too full of ourselves we will not be able to accept His blessings. We also have a responsibility to each other to make this all work out.
My wife sees this as a full glass of water and an empty glass of water. The person with the full glass pours out half of his into the other person's empty glass. Now they are both half full leaving the rest to be filled by God.

Epiphany 6 - Luke 6:17-26

Nice sentiment, perhaps the rest will be filled, not by some shadowy deity but by yourselves in shared good faith.
